About CHERRISK
CHERRISK is an online platform where you can easily and quickly take out different insurances and manage all the related issues 100% online.
Our name expresses several things that are important to us. Firstly, that we are a risk-sharing community. That is why our name is based on the acronym "Share Risk". And because our raison d'être is charity, we have also included the word "charity". Hence the name CHERRISK.
We are a start-up based in Budapest, Hungary that evolved in 2018 from the Austrian insurance giant UNIQA, one of the largest insurance companies in Europe. UNIQA not only supports us with their know-how but also serves as a known insurer for the insurance products that we offer in Hungary.
CHERRISK is only a few years old, so you may not have heard of us. It's only natural, and highly appreciated, that you want to play it safe.
The fact is that, as young and innovative as we are, we are actually backed by UNIQA, a giant insurance company with a long history and solid foundations. UNIQA was founded in 1811 in Austria and has grown to become one of the largest insurance companies in Europe with more than 15 million policyholders. UNIQA provides the solid insurance products that we offer through our online platform, and supports us with a huge, well-functioning infrastructure, professional experience and capital.
We hope this leaves you in no doubt. If you still have questions, feel free to ask us at cherrisk@cherrisk.com.

Products
The CHERRISK platform currently offers five insurance products (Accident Insurance, Home Insurance, Travel Insurance, Domestic Travel Insurance and Travel Cancellation Insurance) that provide outstanding value-for-money.
Travel Insurance
We know that travelling is one of the most exciting experiences. And we hope that all your travels will be safe. But in order to travel worry-free, it’s always better to be prepared for unexpected situations abroad. No matter if an accident, illness or luggage loss happens, or your flight is delayed – you can count on CHERRISK Travel Insurance. It may not only cover unexpected costs during your trip, it also assists you with finding a doctor, organizing ambulance service, or providing transportation to your home.
Assistance means that your insurance can help not only by financial compensation of a specific loss, but with human help in various cases. When you are abroad, you can often feel lost, and in difficult situations it is good to know who to turn to, who knows how things work in the country and can help you with information, with specific issues or with communication. For example, if you need emergency medical care or your car breaks down. In short: help in times of need. If you are travelling with CHERRISK Travel Insurance and need immediate assistance, don't hesitate to call our 24-hour emergency line: +36 1 727 8576
Interruption occurs when you have already been travelling and you have to interrupt your trip and return home due to an unexpected event. In such cases, it helps if you have taken out CHERRISK Travel Insurance in advance, which can help you as specified in the product terms and conditions.
Cancelling a trip, on the other hand, is when you have to cancel your already booked trip unexpectedly before the departure. This is where CHERRISK Travel Cancellation Insurance comes in handy, but only if you have taken out the insurance at least 15 days before the trip and the unexpected event is truly unexpected. If you would like to learn more about the costs the insurance would compensate and the reasons you can cancel your trip for, please refer to the CHERRISK Travel Cancellation Insurance product conditions.
You can take out insurance for a minimum of 1 day and a maximum of 30 days. You can buy a new CHERRISK Travel Insurance policy that starts immediately after the original one expires.
You cannot take out CHERRISK Travel Insurance in the following cases:
- Armed service
- Participation in sporting events as a professional sportsman or sports training
- If you are travelling to countries that are on the Consular Service's list of countries and regions not recommended for travel
- If you are living or working abroad or do not have health insurance in Hungary.
For more details, see the CHERRISK Travel Insurance product condition.
No. CHERRISK Travel Insurance will only be useful when you have left the country. If you are looking for insurance cover for your life or travel in your home country, choose CHERRISK Accident Insurance or CHERRISK Domestic Travel Insurance.
No. However, if you have an active travel insurance policy that will expire during your stay, you can extend it by taking out a new policy starting on the day following the expiry date of your former insurance. Also see our answer to the following question.
If you are abroad and you have a valid travel insurance policy that expires during your trip, to renew it, just take out a new policy. Make sure to set the start date of the new policy to the first day after the expiry date of your current policy.
Territories located in geographical Europe of the following countries: Member States of the European Union, as well as Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, Faeroe Islands, Gibraltar, Iceland, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, the United Kingdom, North Macedonia, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Norway, Russian Federation, San Marino, Switzerland, Serbia, Ukraine, Vatican; moreover, the entire territory of Turkey and of the following islands: Cyprus, Canary Islands, Azores Islands, Madeira.
To choose the right destination for your Travel Insurance, the only thing you need to know is whether you will be entering the United States or Canada during your trip. If the answer is yes, you should select International including US and Canada. If no, you should select International excluding US and Canada. Don't worry, both options are valid for Europe as well.
Yes, CHERRISK Travel Insurance includes skiing and snowboarding as insured sports, without extra charge. However, one thing is important: if you want to enjoy the protection of CHERRISK Travel Insurance while doing winter sports, do not leave the designated skiing and snowboarding areas.
Cars less than 10 years old are covered with car assistance.
If your flight is delayed by more than 4 hours, the insurance will reimburse up to HUF 50,000 for the costs of consumer goods purchased while waiting at the airport (e.g. food, drinks)if you have an invoice. Don't worry, you won't be left on your own in case of a longer delay, flight change or cancellation. In this case contact your airline.
CHERRISK Travel Insurance does not provide coverage for flight cancellations. But don't worry, if this is needed, your airline will certainly help. If you want to be sure of what you can expect in such unexpected situations, read the product conditions of the flight ticket in detail or contact the airline's customer service.
Before your travel, we recommend that you check the website of the Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where you can find general travel and country-specific information.
Travel Cancellation Insurance
CHERRISK Travel Cancellation Insurance offers a worldwide coverage.
CHERRISK Travel Cancellation Insurance provides coverage if you have to cancel your trip before departure, due to an insured event specified in the Insurance Contract Terms and Conditions.
You can expect a fixed one-off amount up to HUF 1 million per insured person.
No, because the CHERRISK Travel Cancellation Insurance provides coverage in that case when you are forced to cancel the trip before departure.
Yes, you can take out an independent insurance on CHERRISK.
Home Insurance
Real property insurance covers (pursuant to the Insurance Contract Terms and Conditions) damage to the building, building parts or structures that you own, rent or use. Movables include all household objects and valuable assets which you own but are not part of the building.
In order to avoid under- or overinsurance, you can't specify an optional real property value. (Underinsurance means that the Sum Insured is lower than the value of your real property. In this case, you may receive lower indemnification than your real property would justify. In the case of overinsurance, you buy a policy where the Sum Insured exceeds the cost of rebuilding the insured real property. However, the agreement concerning the amount of the Sum Insured exceeding the property value shall be null and void, therefore you would pay a higher premium without any real benefit.)
Any object in the household can have a high value, including a TV, a refrigerator, or a built-in wardrobe. They are also covered by the insurance, but there is an upper limit for the amount of indemnification, which is up to HUF 300,000 per item and the total amount of indemnification cannot exceed the Sum Insured for movables (which is specified in your homeowners insurance contract). The valuables (e.g. precious metals, artworks, paintings, antique furniture) are only covered by CHERRISK Home Insurance if their value is not more than HUF 300,000. CHERRISK Home Insurance does not cover the so-called collateral damage such as the total loss of a collection's value that results from a piece of a collection being damaged.
Within the coverage for movables, the Insurer shall also provide benefits in case of theft or robbery of so-called movables carried along outside the Insured Location. The indemnification limit is HUF 30,000 for theft, and HUF 300,000 for robbery.
If your work tool is damaged when working from home (due to one of the insured events) and you have to pay compensation to your employer, the insurer will reimburse your expenses up to 100,000 HUF.
Yes, almost always. Log in to the online platform at www.cherrisk.com, and select your homeowners insurance contract under “Documents” to request a credit coverage certificate. For faster administration, have the documents received from your bank at hand. Enter your data. Once we have registered the lender bank's data, you will receive the certificate. You can also send your registration request via email to cherrisk@cherrisk.com, as our colleagues will still be able to identify your credit institution and provide you with a certificate. For faster administration, CHERRISK issues digitally generated credit coverage certificates only. Note that, for reasons beyond our control, OTP Bank for example does not accept a certificate digitally issued by CHERRISK.
Yes. It will be sent to you as a pdf file.
If the loan agreement has been terminated for any reason, log in to the online platform at www.cherrisk.com, and select your relevant insurance contract under “Documents” to request the deletion of the “credit coverage clause”. For deletion of the clause, please upload the lender bank’s confirmation of contract termination. If the confirmation is accepted, the clause will be deleted shortly, and a new policy (without a clause) will be sent to you. You can also email your request for deletion to cherrrisk@cherrisk.com, as our colleagues will still be able to complete the deletion process.
If you want to terminate your insurance, log in to www.cherrisk.com, and simply cancel your insurance contract for the next insurance period. In this case, the next premium will not be deducted from your bank account, and your insurance will expire at midnight on the last day of your effective contract.
Accident Insurance
Yes. The sum insured can be modified once a month. You can make changes at any time and your next premium will change accordingly.
It is the upper limit of the indemnification payable upon the occurrence of an insured event, which is defined in the Insurance Terms and Conditions. Each insurance service is subject to a different Sum Insured, which you can find in the Benefit Schedule in the Insurance Terms and Conditions.
No, CHERRISK Accident Insurance applies to Insured Events occurring in the territory of Hungary only, with the exception of accidental death, which is covered in every country in the world.
CHERRISK accident insurance covers multi-institution sports passes with annual contract and payment (for example All You Can Move SportPass.) The insurance covers those pass holders who are natural persons (including those who buy their passes together with their employers).
If you have CHERRISK Accident Insurance and suffer an accident that prevents you from working out, you first have to report the accident on www.cherrisk.com. After choosing the option "Accident", tell us what happened and upload your sports pass invoice to the optional documents. Once this has been done and your claim has been accepted, the insurance (up to the sum insured for sports pass coverage - valid on the day of the accident) will cover two months fees (up to 20,000 forints) for your sports pass.
Upon the occurrence of an Insured Event, the Insurer pays the fixed Sum Insured specified in the Contract, regardless of the costs that have been actually incurred.
Our Carsharing Deductible coverage helps you pay your deductible in the event of damage incurred to the car that was used in the increasingly popular community carsharing.
If you want to terminate your insurance, log in to www.cherrisk.com, and simply cancel your insurance contract for the next insurance period. In this case, the next premium will not be deducted from your bank account, and your insurance will expire at midnight on the last day of your effective contract.
Domestic Travel Insurance
Yes, the CHERRISK Domestic Travel Insurance covers insured events occurring in the territory of Hungary only.
No, because the insurance covers accidents that are suffered by you (or to be more precise by the insured person). Also, being bitten by a dog kept by the insured person does not constitute an insured event.
If you had CHERRISK Domestic Travel Insurance in effect when you lost a personal document (ID card, address card, driving license, passport, student's card, tax card, social security card), then the replacement cost will be reimbursed up to HUF 30,000. Always report the loss to the police in order to avoid abuse, and send that report to us, along with documents verifying the replacement cost.
If you had CHERRISK Domestic Travel Insurance in effect at the time of the accident and you need continuous hospital treatment for more than three days, then we will pay daily hospital allowance (HUF 5,000 per day) for up to 180 days. As further assistance in this difficult situation, we will also reimburse the justified travel and accommodation costs incurred with the visit by your relative (up to HUF 50,000).
No, the insurer does not reimburse the cost of dental treatment in the case of chipped or cracked teeth or damages to teeth and dental fittings.
Claim
A claim can be reported through the online platform at www.cherrisk.com, or by calling our customer service. If you have CHERRISK Travel Insurance, you may contact our assistance service provider, SOS ASSISTANCE HUNGARY, in an urgent case during the travel on this phone number: +36 1 727 8576. Once you are back home, you can report a claim on the online platform at www.cherrisk.com, or by calling our customer service.
Your claim must be reported immediately, but no later than two working days after becoming aware of it. If you have CHERRISK Travel Insurance, in an urgent case during the trip, you must report your claim to our assistance service provider, SOS ASSISTANCE HUNGARY (+36 1 727 8576), immediately, but no later than 24 hours.
If, according to the contractual conditions, you are entitled to reimbursement, it will be paid within 15 calendar days after we receive the last required document. However, based on our experience over the past year and a half, the insurer may reimburse you in just five days.
Payment
By debit or credit card, PayPal virtual wallet or, in some cases, via bank transfer.
As we don't believe in annual commitment, CHERRISK Accident insurance and Home insurance operates with month-to-month contracts. Yet, besides monthly billing you can also choose to pay all your premium for 6 or 12 months at once. In the meantime, this still doesn't mean commitment. If you change your mind and you want to cancel your insurance, just let us know and we will refund the premium you have payed for all your unbegun monthly contracts.
A CHERRISK Home Insurance or CHERRISK Accident Insurance contract is valid for one month, but as the next premiums are paid month after month, you can enjoy coverage without interruption.
The policy date is in line with the effective date of your first CHERRISK Home Insurance or CHERRISK Accident Insurance. This is the day from which you will be insured for one month, and the date from which you recontract for every month if you pay the next premium.
If you forget to pay the premium for the next period, you will have no insurance contract for the next insurance period. However, based on the data stored, you can re-conclude your contract at any time so you can have an insurance policy again from the time the premium is paid.
You can edit your saved bank card details after signing in to your "Dashboard" on the online platform at www.cherrisk.com. Look for the "Settings" section's "Payment settings" subsection.
Community
We believe in the power of communities, so we collectively seek and support objectives that make the world better and safer. Our clients can vote for the proposed objectives that meet our Community Policy. The objective that gets the most votes becomes eligible to be supported by CHERRISK GO application users with the cherries they obtain through the app. These cherries can be converted to charity coupons.
The decision to select the proposed objectives to become eligible is based on the votes we receive for the proposals. These proposed objectives are called community objectives, and can be supported. We explicitly await proposals which can contribute to a smaller community living a safer life. Some examples of possible objectives: renovation of an old, obsolete playground; purchasing special equipment for persons with disabilities; replacement of worn school equipment with modern assets.
CHERRISK GO application and cherries pave the way to the realisation of community objectives. If you use your cherries to support a community objective (by converting cherries to charity goodies/coupons), the designated organization will receive the gathered financial support after the support period.
Our users can vote to select the proposed objectives to become eligible objectives in the next support period. Voting is not limited to those who have registered on the online platform at www.cherrisk.com, however, unregistered voters must enter their email address and confirm their votes.
The collected sum is always paid to the designated organisation within 10 working days from the end of the support period. For reasons of transparency, all realised projects will be reported in our blog and in social media.
CHERRISK GO
We believe that we can always live a bit better and safer. And we also believe that high-tech solutions can help in that regard. That is why we created CHERRISK in 2018 as a fast, simple and modern insurance technology platform. We playfully help members of the CHERRISK community to live safer. We thought it was time to motivate more than just CHERRISK members day by day. For that purpose, we have created CHERRISK GO, an application that rewards those with cherries who live safer and more active, by engaging in the activities indicated in the app. The system has been designed to go beyond itself: in the application, our users can exchange cherries for objects, services and discounts provided by our partners, and for support of charitable objectives. That way we can reach a wider audience and help even more people. We perceive a growing openness to that, but many people need a bit of additional motivation. We think that we can also provide that with CHERRISK GO, because even things that seem difficult are easier if you do them playfully.
With the required approvals, CHERRISK GO automatically identifies your activities (driving without using your mobile phone, bicycle riding, and walking/running.) These activities are identified with your phone's GPS and motion sensors. CHERRISK GO monitors the duration of your activity, and rewards you with virtual cherries. The more time you spend moving, the more cherries you get. When you drive, it's not only the activity that is identified, but the app also checks if you use your mobile phone. Why? Because cherries are given for phone-free driving only. (Running a navigation system does not constitute phone usage, unlike setting up the software and tapping its interface.) You get one more cherry in your account for every five minutes of phone-free driving, cycling and walking/running. Then you can exchange your cherries for goodies, i.e. charity, objects, services and discounts.
CHERRISK GO includes all time periods exceeding one minute (and spent with phone-free driving, cycling or walking/running) in the five-minute cherry collection periods. So you don't need to walk for five minutes without interruption; the minutes spent walking are added up. A progress indicator on the main page, around the activity icon, shows the minutes still needed to gain a cherry. The time spent performing each activity is calculated separately. The activities cannot be aggregated.
CHERRISK GO uses information received from the phone sensors (gyroscope, accelerometer) and GPS data to identify your activities. The information is then sent into a database for analysis by various algorithms. First, it is identified whether you are standing or moving. If you move less fast than 10 km per hour, then your activity is identified as walking/running. If you move faster than that, it is presumed that you are in a car or on a bicycle. GPS data are used to find out which of these two travel methods you engage in, and the algorithm continues to analyse the movement data from your phone. That's why it's important to keep your phone close to your body while cycling. This results in better movement tracking and more accurate activity recognition. When you drive, we assume that your phone remains in one place, unused (as you don't tap it). This helps you recognise the activity.
We keep working to improve the reliability of activity recognition by our algorithms. The accuracy will increase as more and more people use the application. You can be sure that your activity will not remain unrewarded.
In case we get erroneous GPS data that can't be interpreted (for example due to wrong position information), these must be removed from the system. This may unfortunately lead to lost cherries. If you use our app on an iPhone, please make sure that location tracking for CHERRISK GO is set to “always” in the phone's settings. Maybe you chose the “only when running” option when the app was installed; in this case, your activity is only measured when the application is actually running. If you use Android, it's advisable to turn off the battery saving mode under CHERRISK GO settings. the Android system automatically turns that mode on, but we find that turning it off does not drain the battery faster. The battery saving mode greatly reduces the accuracy of measurement. Also under the app settings, turn on automatic recognition and running in the foreground. The app needs an internet connection to forward the data and award you with cherries, and it also needs access to location data. On a Huawei phone, the following additional settings are recommended: If your Android versions 7 to 9: •Settings > Applications (cogwheel icon at the bottom) > Special access > Don't optimise. Select all applications at the top, then select CHERRISK GO, and choose “Allow”. If your Android version is 8 to10: •Settings > Battery > Application launch > Manual settings. If autolaunch is enabled, turn it off and give all permissions (autolaunch, secondary launch, run in the background) If you have a Samsung phone, check the following settings: Android version 8 or 9: •Settings > Device maintenance > Battery > Settings (three dots in the top right corner) > Sleeping applications > remove CHERRISK GO (if it’s listed) by dragging it to the trash bin icon top right. If you have Android version 10: •Settings > Device maintenance >Battery > Application performance > Sleeping applications > remove CHERRISK GO (if it's listed) by dragging it to the trash bin icon top right.

Goodies may be the most important parts of CHERRISK GO: you can exchange your virtual cherries for these. Goodies can be objects, services and discounts provided by us or our partners. Charity goodies are also available if you would rather use your cherries for charitable purposes.
Your activities are recognised automatically, in the background. Nevertheless, continuous GPS usage adds to the battery drain. CHERRISK GO is programmed to consume the least energy possible, and it also uses the built-in functions of your phone's operating system. Much of our development efforts is aimed at further decreasing the app's drain on the battery of your phone.
CHERRISK GO uses GPS connection for location tracking in the background, so that we can identify your activities. In our experience, CHERRISK GO increases your phone's power consumption by 8% on average. We keep working to lower the energy usage, so please always keep your CHERRISK GO application up to date.
Sometimes your phone indicates GPS connection, where actually there is no such connection. Restarting your phone usually resolves this problem.
Yes if you have an Android phone; no if you use iOS. This will change in the future, but right now the two operating systems differ in that regard.
Install the app on the new phone, and choose the “I’m already registered” option. Then enter your previous data, and you are ready to continue collecting cherries. Your previously collected cherries will naturally be carried over. If your phone number has changed as well, enter and validate it under “My profile” in the menu.
The list of our partners is expanded continuously, but sadly we can't provide exact dates for new goodies. As soon as there are new goodies available, we will let you know via the app and social media.
You get a cherry-code if somebody has invited you to use the application. If no friend has invited you yet, leave this field blank and continue with registration. If you have already registered, it's worthwhile to share your cherry code because both the inviting and the invited person get 25 cherries as a reward for using the code.
